KBGC-B Leads Premier League

The B team of Kowloon Bowling Green Club (KBGC-B) maintains its leading position in the Division 1 of the lawn bowls premier league with a 6-2 away win at the Craigengower Cricket Club (CCC-A). They are now leading the second-placed Kowloon Cricket Club team A (KCC-A) by two points, after four games.

With the fear that all games will be washed out by the forecasted downpour on Saturday (May 22), the league games proceeded with caution but eventually all were completed unscratched. Played under hot and humid conditions, the games at CCC were highly competitive with both teams having the chance to win at the final stage. In the end, all games were settled by a single shot, with KBGC-B winning two rinks to take the aggregate shot to 52:51 – winning the game by 6-2.

KCC-A beat Hong Kong Football Club–A (HKFC-A) at home, maintaining the pressure at the top of the leader board.

After the defeat, CCC-A and HKFC-A were pushed closer to the bottom of the table. The nine points for CCC-A keep them in the relegation zone, while HKFC-A is one place above them with 12 points. The team at the bottom is KCC-B with eight points.

In the ladies』 section, United Services Recreation Club team A (USRC-A) beat KBGC-A at home 6-2 to hold its leading position by a single point. Second placed HKFC-A defeated Hong Kong Police Bowling Club team A (HKPBC-A) 8-0 at home to continue the chase.

$200,000 for Qinghai victims

Hong Kong Lawn Bowls Association (HKLBA) raised a total of HK$200,000 for the victims of the Qinghai earthquake through the organization of a charity tournament. A total of 42 teams from 20 clubs in Hong Kong participated in the tournament, which was played in Craigengower Cricket Club, Hong Kong Football Club, Indian Recreation Club and the Police Officers Club.

The money was donated to the Qinghia Earthquake Relief fund of the Hong Kong Red Cross.

A 6.9 degree (Richter scale) earthquake struck Yushu County on April 14, 2010, killing 2,187 people (Including 207 schoolchildren) and injuring over 12,000 in this remote high-altitude Tibetan community in China』s Qinghai Province. 15,000 homes were destroyed and 100,000 people rendered homeless by the disaster.
