Pro CCP Hong Kong businessmen are subject to US sanctions, says Elmer Yuen, a Hong Kong businessman

Sanctions of top CCP (Chinese Communist Party) officials are very powerful. According to Elmer Yuen, a Hong Kong businessman, these CCP officials’ mentality is: “I have sold my life to the CCP. Having my money and children outside of China is what makes the sacrifice worthwhile.” Knowing that all these may be affected by their actions in China, they are deeply disturbed.

The same goes for the local Hong Kong businessmen and celebrities who have publicly supported the national security law the central CCP is trying to impose on Hong Kong. They have always thought that sanctions would touch CCP officials, says Yuen. 

Yuen is talking to the US Congress to include these people in the sanction plan. To Yuen, the national security law is not a trivial matter; it is a big deal of right or wrong. Being coerced by the CCP is not a valid excuse, except for these Hong Kong public figures who hold American, Canadian, or British passports.
