以下是紐約地鐵裏三張提醒乘客注意安全的海報，很多動詞、用語、句型都是日常生活中很常用的。

Stay alert on station platforms.
在車站月台上要保持警覺
‧Stand back from the edge of the platform
‧站的位置要離月台邊遠點
‧Wait near other riders
‧在與接近其他乘客的地方等候（萬一有狀況時，好有人即時協助）
‧Let the train come to a full stop before stepping forward
‧等火車完全停止後再上車
　

Leaning on subway doors is dangerous.
倚靠在地鐵門上是很危險的。
這裏有的讀者可能會有疑問，doors不是複數嗎，怎麼會用單數動詞is呢？其實這一句的主詞並不是doors，而是leaning on subway doors這個動作，所以是單數。
lean (sth) against/on sth 是一個動詞片語，依靠的意思，用英文解釋就是to sit or stand with part of your body touching something as a support. （坐或站時用你身體的部份碰觸到某件東西作為支撐。）

It's no laughing matter if the doors open.
當門打開時，那可不是好笑的事情。

We're serious about safety—your safety.
對於安全──您的安全，我們是很認真的。

Avoid Slips, Trips, and Falls
避免滑倒，絆倒與跌倒。
‧Never run on stairs, on platforms, or in subway cars.
‧不要在樓梯、月台或地鐵車箱中奔跑。
‧Keep to the right and hold the handrail on staircases.
‧ 靠右邊行走，並且握好樓梯間扶手。◇
