美國參議院外交關係委員會成員、愛達荷州參議員Jim Risch周一（6日）批評，「47人案」是「虛假的審判」，引來政府及親共政黨不滿。
Jim Risch在Twitter發文，形容當日開審的民主派初選「47人案」是「虛假的審判」（sham trial），「這個偽裝（charade）說明中國（中共）對法治的破壞以及它對不同意見的恐懼。美國將繼續支持這些自由戰士（freedom fighters）」。
Today, #HongKong begins a sham trial against 47 pro-democracy leaders who planned to run for political seats. This charade illustrates #China’s destruction of the rule of law and how afraid it is of different opinions. The U.S. will continue to support these freedom fighters.
