美東時間周一（1月8日）上午7點左右，位於紐約市中心的特朗普大廈的屋頂著火，冒出濃煙，超過100名消防隊員趕到現場滅火，3人受到輕傷。
紐約市消防局表示，位於曼哈頓精華地段第五大道的特朗普大樓的冷卻塔失火，消防人員大約花了一個小時撲滅火勢。
幾個片段顯示，特朗普大樓屋頂冒出陣陣濃煙。由於火災發生在樓頂，警方並未疏散在特朗普大樓內的工作人員。紐約市消防局表示，3人受到輕傷，包括一名被碎片擊中的消防員，以及特朗普大樓一名工程人員，因吸入濃煙而嗆傷。

特朗普總統的兒子埃里克（Eric Trump）發推文感謝紐約市消防局，稱讚其在火勢蔓延前完成「令人難以置信的工作」。
「特朗普大樓屋頂冷卻塔發生了一場小火災。紐約消防部門在幾分鐘之內就趕到現場，完成令人難以置信的工作。消防員是真正的英雄，值得我們最真誠的感謝和讚美！」
