外界盛傳將在里約熱內盧奧運開幕禮負責點燃聖火的巴西「球王」比利，宣佈由於身體健康理由，將缺席奧運開幕禮。

今屆奧運開幕禮在香港時間6日早上舉行，有傳言比利會在馬拉簡拿球場利用身門方式點燃奧運聖火。但比利當地時間5日發表聲明，指自己身體狀況不允許他出席奧運的開幕禮（

I'm not physically able to attend the opening of the Olympics）。他又說，「只有神才比我的健康更重要。在我的人生中，經歷過骨折、做手術、痛楚、入院、勝利和失敗，我一直很尊重那些欣賞我的人。」（Only God is more important than my health. In my life, I've had fractures, surgeries, pain, hospital stays, victories and defeats. And I've always respected those who admire me.）比利坦言這是他的個人決定，為此向巴西人民道歉，並補充「作為一個巴西人，我會向神祈求祝福所有參與這比賽的人（As a Brazilian, I ask God to bless all who participate in this event）。」◇
